Juhu Beach degenerates into rubbish sell off, BMC clears 430 tonnes of plastic waste

In what can be defined as nature’s model of tit for tat, the ocean dumped tonnes of waste at Mumbai’s Juhu Beach currently, which made for an extremely unpleasant sight and smell. Large stretches of the seaside resembled huge garbage unload because of the waves delivered in waste – often plastic – during the last week. Many locals took to social media to vent their ire on human apathy, while environmentalists again pointed to the hazards of dumping trash into the ocean.

Many celebrities also took to Twitter to focus on the plight of the seaside, a favorite among locals and tourists. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been running time beyond regulation to clean the beach of the thrash and had reportedly cleared 430 tonnes of garbage using Monday. A variety of cleaning machines, as well as laborers, were deployed for the undertaking. This isn’t the first time that the seashore at Juhu has witnessed such scenes. In July 2018, the Arabian Sea dumped tonnes of waste, converting the beach into an awkward dump yard. Most of the trash changed into plastic, although the Maharashtra government had already banned plastic. A range of concerned residents, in addition to NGOs, have been working to ease up Mumbai’s seashores, and focus campaigns are regularly held to tell common people of the risks of dumping waste into the seas.
